Archive for the 'Christmas Traditions' CategoryFun fact: In the song “Twelve Days of Christmas”, the total number of gifts given is 364 – one for each day of the year, except Christmas itself.
The Twelve Days of Christmas continues to be my favorite set of Christmas ornaments. The set pictured is the first four in the series from Abigail Pffefer the American designer from Tannenbaum Treasures. The whole series are hand blown and hand painted in Poland. Each one is truly unique and beautiful on it’s own, but the whole set on your Christmas tree is amazing!!!
If you collect fine Christmas ornaments, this series of twelve is a must have.
While many people like to make gingerbread cookies or flavored rock candy, my tastes tend toward molded German chocolate. I use Longaberger pottery Angel of Hope cookie molds to shape the chocolate, and then I put the delicious morsels in individual plastic wrap and tie the whole thing with a seasonal bow. By now my friends and distant relations have come to expect a chocolaty gift whenever I drop by to see them in December. My friends say that it is my own form of German Christmas ornaments, but with cookies.
A babys first Christmas ornament is a great way to commemorate and memorialize your baby’s first Christmas. They’re a tradition in families worldwide and have become a staple for families in the United States. With so many creative choices you’re bound to find something that fits your family perfectly. So if you’ve got a new family member this year don’t forget to make it as memorable as you can and you’ll be glad you did!
Over the last few years I have collected unique finials to decorate with at Christmas time. I know some people use them all year round, but to keep them safe and sound, I just put them up with my special Christmas decorations. I like to use finial stands and put groupings of finials on the mantal or dining room table. I like to put finials in a pretty candle holder and use instead of candles on the table. I was always taught that if you use candles on a table you need to light them, but if you use finials you can avoid the mess of dripping candles. They also make a very unusual and elegant table. If you would like to use a finial all year round, I can’t think of a nicer finial to use than the flag finial. This is a gorgeous hand blown and hand painted glass finial made in Poland. It would definitely fit in with any decor and be a nice addition throughout the year. Happy decorating!
Christmas decorating with glass finials is not just for your Christmas tree top!! You can give your fireplace mantle or table top and unusal look with the addition of handblown glass finials imported from Poland. With the aid of finial stands your mantle can have the look of elegance with an addition of unmatched finials. For the table top, finial stands can be used but candle holders can also be put to good use as a finial holder. Also, add a finial to a flower arrangement for a different look. The uses are limited only by your imagination!! HAPPY DECORATING!!

Few things are more beautiful and easier to implement than filling your home with tea lights for a dinner or a special occasion. Nothing adds more to your elegant Christmas table than a few well placed tea lights. They also have the benefit of being small, to avoid the danger of tipping over, blocking views of guest or getting in the way in general. Use a cake stand or a tray to cluster tea lights or use only one for a dramatic effect. Tannenbaum Treasures has several tealights that would absolutely be beautiful in a straight line down the center of your table or clustered at each end. These tea lights are hand blown and hand painted in Poland. If you want to make a statement with your holiday table this year, try a few beautiful and elegant tea lights!
The domestic chicken has a long history in the United States. Chickens provided meat and eggs for the settlers, and they are still a big business for many farmers. It is no wonder these fine-feathered friends are depicted and collected in many forms. Roosters are more colorful than chickens and there are many species to choose from. Bantam roosters are probably the most popular type of bird, primarily because their long plumage is very colorful and attractive. The origin of Kauai’s chickens come from the original Polynesian settlers, who brought them as a food source. 1992’s Hurricane Iniki caused the roosters to be dispersed throughout the island. Kauai is now home to thousand of wild chickens. Wild roosters have often been known to disturb at very early hours with their crowing and are often seen just walking down the road. A very unique experience to the islands of Hawaii. The American designer and artist, Abigail Pfeffer designed a colorfully dressed rooster strumming a musical instrument. It is a hand blown glass ornament beautifully hand painted and created in Poland. A truly unique ornament for the rooster collector!
“Puss-in-Boots is a French fairy tale about a cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master. “Puss-in-Boots has provided inspiration for composers, choreographers and other artists over the centuries. It has also inspired Abigail Pfeffer an American designer and artist, who designs the most stunning and unusual Christmas ornaments. Abigail has developed an extraordinary collection of glass hand blown Christmas ornaments. Her design of Puss-in-Boots was hand blown and exquisitly hand painted in Poland. It is a most unusual collectible!

In a recent post I described a few of my favorite holiday traditions – the ones that have been performed with ritualistic regularity at my home for years. While decorating the house with Christmas lights and driving to a rural tree farm to select the perfect fir tree are fun activities in their own right, my heart has always been in the kitchen. The holidays are a great time to bond with family members while serving up some cherished Christmas delicacies.
If you have a new addition to your family you’re probably pretty excited for this holiday season. And you should be! Baby’s first Christmas deserves all the grandeur and love of our own and we should be doing everything we can to make it memorable. From family photos and trips to the mall to hearty meals with family and friends, your first holiday season with your new baby is something you’ll want to remember forever.
