Winter Wedding

Author: Happy_Xmas

Three-Winks-Studio-03My fiancé and I are getting married between Thanksgiving and Christmas of this year. Most brides-to-be wouldn’t choose that time frame, but it’s the only time of year when both of our families are in town. It also happens to be our favorite season, so even though it cost a bit more to book our venue, we feel it will be well worth it.

We are saving money in other areas, such as decorations. Rather than use tropical flowers, we’ll line the aisles with seasonal greens and poinsettias. For the centerpieces we’ll be displaying our handcrafted Christmas ornaments in a unique manner, complemented by tea lights and twinkling icicle lights. The goal is to create a Christmas/Winter Wonderland atmosphere.

Caring for Ornaments

Author: Happy_Xmas

HA-025-01_CoachYellowWith New Year’s Day several weeks behind us, I could no longer justify having my Christmas decorations out. Last weekend, I finally put away the last of my Christmas ornaments. I have a particular routine that I use when it comes to packing up my delicate blown glass Christmas ornaments.

First, I gently dust the ornaments with a soft, clean cloth. Then I wrap each ornament individually in acid-free tissue paper before placing them in a paper box. I avoid bubble wrap as it doesn’t allow for ventilation. When every ornament is wrapped up and secure in a box, I store the boxes in my downstairs closet for safe-keeping.
